Privacy & Cookies

What happens to the information you send through this website, in plain English.

Who is responsible for your information

This website belongs to Dr Hitesh Batavia, a dentist registered with the General Dental Council, GDC number 60387, practising as a sole trader. He decides how the information described here is used, which in data protection law makes him the data controller.

Postal address: Dr Hitesh Batavia, c/o UK Smile, 81 Buckingham Gate, London SW1E 6PE

You can reach him through the contact page.

When you use the contact form

The contact form asks for your name, your email address and your message. Those three things are sent straight to Dr Batavia by email. They are not saved in a database, and this website has no login and no account for you.

The reason for using them is simple: you asked to be contacted, and this is how he replies. In data protection terms the lawful basis is his legitimate interest in answering enquiries, and taking steps at your request before any agreement.

Please do not send clinical details, symptoms or anything about your health through the form. It is an ordinary email route, not a secure clinical one. Ask for a conversation instead.

Cookies and analytics

This site sets no cookies of its own for tracking, advertising or profiling.

It uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people read. Google Analytics sets cookies, so it does not run unless you press Accept on the banner. If you decline, nothing is loaded and any Google Analytics cookies from an earlier visit are deleted.

If you accept, the cookies are named _ga and _ga_ followed by a code for this site. They last up to two years and they record which pages were viewed, roughly where in the world the visit came from, what kind of device and browser was used, and which site you arrived from. Your address is shortened before it is stored. None of it is used for advertising, and none of it is sold.

Your choice is remembered in your own browser rather than in a cookie. You can change it whenever you like: .

Hosting

The site is hosted by Vercel. Like every web host, its servers keep short-lived technical logs of requests, including internet addresses, so the service can run and stay secure.

Who else sees your information

Three suppliers are involved, and only to the extent described above: Vercel for hosting, Resend for delivering contact-form emails, and Google for analytics if you accepted it. Each of them may process information outside the United Kingdom, including in the United States, under the transfer safeguards their contracts provide.

Nobody else is given your information, and it is never sold.

How long it is kept

Enquiry emails are kept for as long as they are useful for the conversation and any work that follows, then deleted. Google keeps the detailed analytics record of each visit for two months, and information linked to a returning browser for 14 months from its last visit. Summary figures, such as how many people visited in a month, are kept longer and do not identify anyone.

Your rights

You can ask to see what information is held about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, or to object to it being used. You can also withdraw your agreement to analytics at any time using the link above. Ask through the contact page and there is no charge.

Complaints

If something has gone wrong, please raise it directly first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the United Kingdom's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk.

Complaints about dental treatment are a separate matter and belong with the General Dental Council at gdc-uk.org.
